The Lagos State Government has sealed a property at No. 229, Moshood Abiola Way, Ijora, after it was found discharging untreated sewage directly into public drains.

The enforcement, carried out on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), followed investigations that revealed the waste disposal was polluting the environment, creating a public nuisance, and posing serious health risks to residents.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the development on his verified X handle, describing it as a blatant violation of environmental safety laws.

“The indiscriminate discharge of raw sewage into public drains is not only harmful to the environment but also dangerous to public health,” Wahab said.

He urged Lagos residents to embrace proper wastewater management and good hygiene practices to protect public health and promote environmental sustainability.

Wahab also warned that acts of pollution and environmental nuisance would attract strict penalties, including prosecution, as the state intensifies efforts to enforce sanitation regulations across all communities.

This latest enforcement underscores the government’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental violations — a step aimed at keeping Lagos cleaner, healthier, and safer for everyone.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
