Officers from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command successfully intervened to save an elderly woman who attempted to jump into the lagoon from Carter Bridge in a suicide attempt.

The incident occurred around 12:20 p.m. on Friday during a routine patrol, according to a statement shared via the squad’s official X handle, @rrsLagos767.

Thanks to their timely response, the officers managed to stop the woman before she could harm herself. She was immediately taken to the RRS Headquarters, where she was received by the Commander of the Squad, CSP Shola Jejeloye.

After hearing her story, CSP Jejeloye organized a private reconciliation meeting with the woman, her husband, and their 30-year-old son to address the family issues that may have contributed to her distress.

The emotional meeting was followed by a counseling session and financial support provided by the RRS Commander to assist the woman in her recovery.

The woman’s family expressed deep gratitude to CSP Jejeloye and the RRS team for their prompt and compassionate intervention. She has since been released into the care of her husband and son.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
