Lagos PDP Kicks Out Members Over Allegiance to ADC, Vows Party Discipline Ahead of Congresses

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled some of its members for openly endorsing the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing gross misconduct and disloyalty to the party.

The expulsion was announced on Thursday by Segun Edwards, spokesperson for the PDP Elders Caucus and chairman of one of the state’s 20 local government areas. He made the declaration after a strategic stakeholders' meeting that reviewed decisions from the recent PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

According to Edwards, the expelled individuals blatantly declared support for the ADC, an act considered a direct violation of PDP’s core values and constitution.

“The affected people openly aligned themselves with the ADC, in direct contravention of party discipline and loyalty,” Edwards stated. “Such actions are incompatible with our principles, and the stakeholders unanimously passed a motion for their immediate expulsion.”

The meeting also instructed all PDP chairmen across Lagos LGAs to begin mobilization ahead of the party’s upcoming congresses scheduled between September and November 2025. These congresses will restructure the party from the ward level to the national level.

PDP elders in the state reaffirmed their commitment to reviving the party’s fortunes and issued a stern warning that further acts of disloyalty would not be tolerated.

Party insiders say the move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen internal unity and ensure that only dedicated members participate in the party’s restructuring process ahead of future elections.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
