A mechanic identified as Samson has been killed after he was allegedly lured to the Abijo area of Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, under the pretext of repairing a Mercedes-Benz.

The incident reportedly occurred on September 15. Samson, who operated a mechanic workshop around Warike Estate, was contacted to attend to the vehicle and travelled to the location where it was said to be parked. He was allegedly taken into a bush and killed.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident, saying the victim’s family had earlier reported him missing after he failed to return home.

According to the police, detectives visited Samson’s apartment after receiving the report and began efforts to trace his mobile phone and determine his whereabouts.

A police source said investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible. An anti-cultism advocacy platform alleged that the incident was connected to a retaliatory clash between rival cult groups, but the police had not confirmed that claim.

The police said investigations were continuing as officers work to establish the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible.
