LAGOS LAUNCHES FINANCE CLINIC TO UNLOCK CLIMATE FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

The Lagos State Government has launched its inaugural climate finance clinic as part of efforts to attract funding for projects aimed at addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.

The initiative is designed to connect government agencies, private sector players, investors, and development partners while helping project developers understand how to access climate-related financing opportunities.

Officials said the programme will strengthen Lagos’ ability to secure funding for projects focused on areas such as renewable energy, waste management, climate resilience, and sustainable urban development.

Stakeholders noted that climate finance remains critical as cities face increasing environmental pressures linked to population growth, flooding, pollution, and infrastructure demands. They emphasized the need for well-structured projects that can attract both local and international investors.

The Lagos government said the finance clinic will improve collaboration among key stakeholders and create pathways for more climate-focused investments in the state.
