LAGOS LAUNCHES CLEAN ENERGY CONTEST FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS
The Lagos State Government has launched a new clean energy contest targeted at secondary school students to promote awareness and innovation in renewable energy solutions.
The competition, organised in collaboration with education and environmental agencies, challenges students to develop practical projects on solar power, energy efficiency, waste-to-energy, and other sustainable technologies. Winners will receive prizes, mentorship opportunities, and potential funding to bring their ideas to life.
Officials described the initiative as part of broader efforts to build a green-conscious generation and support the state’s climate action goals. They emphasised the importance of engaging young minds in finding solutions to environmental challenges.
Education stakeholders welcomed the contest, noting that it will encourage creativity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning among students. Schools are expected to participate actively, with regional heats leading to a grand finale.
The Lagos State Government expressed confidence that the programme will inspire more young people to pursue careers in science, technology, and environmental sustainability. The contest is open to all public and private secondary schools in the state.
