LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY GRIDLOCK EASES AFTER SIX HOURS OF TRAFFIC CHAOS

Traffic has returned to normal on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after motorists were trapped for more than six hours in a prolonged gridlock that disrupted movement along the major highway. The congestion particularly affected the Mowe-Ibafo axis, leaving commuters travelling between Lagos and other parts of the South-West stranded for extended periods.

The situation caused significant frustration among motorists, with some travellers spending several hours on the busy route before traffic began to ease. The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is a major transportation corridor linking Lagos with Ibadan and serving motorists travelling to several other parts of the country.

Residents and motorists around the Mowe-Ibafo area later reported an improvement in the situation on Wednesday morning. The Mowe-Ibafo X Community confirmed that the affected section had become free-flowing, providing relief to commuters who had endured the lengthy traffic build-up.

The prolonged congestion once again highlighted the difficulties motorists face on the busy expressway, where accidents, road works and other disruptions can quickly result in lengthy delays. Previous incidents along the corridor have similarly caused major traffic disruptions and left thousands of commuters stranded.

With normal movement restored, motorists have been advised to remain cautious and obey traffic regulations while using the expressway. Authorities and road users are expected to remain vigilant to prevent fresh incidents from triggering another major traffic build-up along the corridor.
