The Lagos State Government has opened a formal investigation into allegations of financial misconduct involving an employee of the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) accused of diverting official payments into a personal account.

The probe was triggered after a viral post on X (formerly Twitter) by a user identified as @Bhadmoz (TrueBlue), who alleged that payments meant for LASAA were being made into an individual’s Opay account.

According to the whistleblower, clients were being charged ₦45,000 for services but were issued official receipts showing only ₦7,100, suggesting diversion of public funds.

The post, which tagged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, prompted swift government action.

Confirming the development, Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab stated that the individual implicated is indeed a LASAA staff member and has been directed to report to the agency’s headquarters for disciplinary proceedings.

“My attention has been drawn to a post alleging improper transaction practices involving a staff member of an agency under our ministry. I have instructed that the officer appear at the agency’s head office tomorrow to face disciplinary proceedings,” Wahab said.

He reaffirmed the government’s stance on transparency and zero tolerance for corruption, warning that unethical behaviour in public service would not go unpunished.

“Let this serve as a strong warning. The Lagos State Government has zero tolerance for corruption or misconduct. We commend vigilant citizens who help expose such acts because maintaining transparency is a collective duty,” the Commissioner added.

The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) oversees and regulates outdoor advertising and signage across the state, ensuring compliance with government-approved standards.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
