LAGOS EXPANDS HOMEOWNERSHIP DRIVE AS MORE RESIDENTS BENEFIT FROM HOUSING SCHEME

The Lagos State Government has expanded its homeownership programme, adding new beneficiaries under its ongoing housing initiative aimed at reducing the state’s housing deficit.

Officials said the latest allocation is part of efforts to make affordable housing more accessible to residents, particularly low- and middle-income earners struggling with rising accommodation costs in the state.

According to the government, the initiative is designed to promote inclusive urban development while easing pressure on the housing market in one of Africa’s fastest-growing cities.

Beneficiaries are expected to gain access to structured payment plans, enabling them to gradually own homes without excessive financial burden.

Housing authorities noted that the programme aligns with the state’s broader urban development strategy, which prioritizes sustainable living environments, improved infrastructure, and better access to essential services.

They added that ongoing housing projects across different parts of Lagos will continue to be rolled out in phases to accommodate more residents in the coming months.

The government reiterated its commitment to bridging the housing gap and ensuring that more families have access to decent and affordable accommodation.
