LAGOS COUNCIL SPONSORS 1,000 CANDIDATES FOR 2026 UTME
The Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LGA) in Lagos State has sponsored the registration of approximately 1,000 students for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The council chairman, Adetola Abubakar, presented the registration forms to the beneficiaries during a ceremony held at the council secretariat on Monday. She assured the students of continued support to ensure they are fully prepared for the examination.
The initiative, officially launched during the event, was attended by senior council officials.
In her remarks, Abubakar commended the students for their dedication to education and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity.
“I am delighted that you are committed to advancing your education. Taking advantage of this opportunity and preparing thoroughly for your exams will make all the difference,” she said.
She noted that the students had undergone a screening process and expressed confidence in their readiness for the UTME.
“This is a chance to shape a brighter future. Many would have wished to be here today, but you have earned this opportunity. Make it count,” she added.
Abubakar further assured the students that the council’s support would go beyond providing forms, emphasizing that their preparation would be closely monitored.
“The examination is approaching quickly. We will not just give you the forms and leave you on your own; we will follow up to ensure you are well-prepared,” she said.
She also promised to celebrate outstanding performances and provide continued support throughout their academic journey.
“If you excel and make us proud, we will celebrate your achievements and assist you in your next educational steps,” she added.
Encouraging the students to aim high, Abubakar challenged them to target top UTME scores.
“I want to see scores of 350 and above. You can achieve it,” she said.
She emphasised that education is a critical pathway to a secure future and a means of overcoming poverty.
“Taking your education seriously is essential. It is the surest way to secure your future and uplift your family,” she noted.
Abubakar also motivated female students to compete confidently with their male peers.
“Girls, you can excel just as much as boys. Strive for excellence and embrace the challenge,” she concluded.
