LAGOS ANNOUNCES THREE-WEEK TRAFFIC DIVERSION AS OKE-AFA BRIDGE UNDERGOES REPAIRS

The Lagos State Government has announced a three-week temporary closure of Oke-Afa Bridge in the Isolo area to allow rehabilitation work to be carried out. The closure is scheduled to begin on Friday, August 28, and end on September 18, 2026.

According to the state Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the rehabilitation will be carried out in two phases. The first phase, running from August 28 to September 11, will affect motorists travelling from Isolo towards Ejigbo.

During the first phase, motorists heading from Isolo to Ejigbo will be diverted at Pako Roundabout onto the Isolo-bound carriageway. Traffic will move in both directions along the affected section before reconnecting with the main carriageway at Mobil Filling Station.

The second phase will run from September 12 to September 18 and will affect motorists travelling from Ejigbo towards Isolo. Vehicles will be diverted onto the Ejigbo-bound carriageway at Mobil Filling Station, with traffic operating in both directions before reconnecting at Pako Roundabout.

The Lagos State Government said traffic management officials from LASTMA would be deployed to the area to ease movement and reduce congestion throughout the rehabilitation period. An emergency tow vehicle will also be stationed along the route to quickly remove broken-down vehicles, while motorists have been urged to cooperate with traffic officials and exercise patience.
