LAGOS ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY WATER OUTAGE IN IKEJA, MAGODO, OTHERS
The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) has announced a temporary disruption of water supply in several parts of the state to enable critical repair works at the Adiyan I Water Treatment Plant.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the corporation said the outage will affect areas including Akiode, Ikeja, Magodo, Oregun, Ketu, Ojota, Maryland, Aromire, Ogudu, Gbagada, Shomolu, Ojuelegba, Oyingbo, Ijora Olopa, Agege, and parts of Lagos Island.
According to the LWC, the disruption is necessary to repair a leakage on the ND1600mm Adiyan raw water pipeline located at the Akute Intake Station.
“It was observed that persistent water discharge from the leakage point has saturated the surrounding soil, thereby compromising ground stability and posing safety risks to heavy construction equipment, including cranes and excavators, deployed in the area,” the statement said.
The corporation appealed to affected residents for patience while the repairs were carried out, assuring them that the water supply would be restored as soon as the work was completed.
