‘LABOUR IS IN CRISIS, PDP IS FINISHED’ — APGA URGES GOV OTTI TO RETURN TO HIS ROOTS
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has called on Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, to return to what it describes as his “true political home,” warning that other major parties are either in crisis or have lost their footing.
Speaking during an APGA stakeholders’ meeting for Abia South Senatorial District last week, Augustine Ehiemere, the party’s National Vice Chairman for the South East, said APGA remains the most stable political party in Nigeria today.
He argued that Governor Otti would be better off back in APGA, the party under which he first ran for governor in 2015 and 2019, instead of staying with the Labour Party, which he claimed is currently battling internal problems.
“Labour Party is presently a breeding ground for crisis. ADC is almost in disarray. APC is not a safe ground for him, and PDP has already diminished,” Ehiemere said. “APGA is the only platform that offers stability and ideological consistency for him to continue his good works.”
Ehiemere also praised Governor Otti’s performance so far, especially in the areas of security and workers’ welfare. He commended the governor for collaborating with Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and setting up the Abia State Security Trust Fund, as well as for promptly paying salaries and pensions.
However, he urged Otti to also prioritise clearing the backlog of gratuities owed to retired workers in the state.
The APGA leader encouraged party members across Abia South and beyond to stay loyal and committed to the party’s values, expressing optimism that APGA remains the strongest vehicle for driving sustainable development.
As political alignments begin to take shape ahead of future elections, many will be watching to see whether Governor Otti considers APGA’s call to “come back home” or stays the course with the Labour Party.
