Real Madrid coach José Mourinho has revealed how he tried to convince Vinícius Jr to remain at the Spanish giants amid speculation over the Brazilian forward’s future.

Mourinho said he personally called Vinícius and questioned where he could possibly go after becoming so familiar with life at Real Madrid.

According to Mourinho, he told the forward, “Vini, where do you want to go? You only know Real Madrid.”

The Portuguese coach explained that Vinícius might only fully appreciate the size and significance of Real Madrid after leaving the club.

“When you leave, then you’ll know what Real Madrid is,” Mourinho said.

Mourinho then gave the Brazilian a direct warning, telling him, “Don’t go.”

He also insisted that leaving the Spanish giants would not be worthwhile for the winger.

“It’s not worth it!” the coach added.

Vinícius has established himself as one of Real Madrid’s leading attacking players since joining the club, playing a key role in the team’s success and becoming one of the most influential players in world football.

The Brazilian winger has since signed a new six-year contract with Real Madrid, ending speculation over his future amid reported interest from Premier League side Arsenal.
