LA LIGA: EL CLáSICO ALWAYS 50-50, SAYS COURTOIS
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes matches against Barcelona are always difficult to predict, regardless of either team’s recent form.
Speaking ahead of their La Liga clash, the Belgian goalkeeper said both sides have an equal chance of winning, even when one appears stronger going into the encounter.
“For me, Clásicos are always 50-50,” he said.
Courtois acknowledged Barcelona’s impressive league performances but expressed confidence in Real Madrid’s ability to secure victory away from home.
He said Madrid would need to win to reduce the gap in the league, adding that recent performances had given the players confidence ahead of the showdown.
However, the goalkeeper warned that Barcelona’s attacking quality would demand a disciplined defensive performance. He stressed that Madrid must limit their opponents’ opportunities and make the most of their own chances.
Courtois also supported teammate Vinicius Junior, expressing confidence that the Brazilian would return to his best with encouragement from his teammates and supporters.
Despite the challenge of playing away, Courtois believes Madrid have the quality to compete and win. His message ahead of the encounter is clear: recent form may shape expectations, but it does not decide El Clásico.
