KWARA UNITED ENTER NEW NPFL SEASON WITH CONFIDENCE, COACH ASSURES FANS
Kwara United head coach, Suleiman Ashifat, says the club is fully prepared for the new Nigeria Premier Football League season and is determined to make a strong start to the campaign.
Ashifat gave the assurance after the Harmony Boys defeated Crown FC of Ogbomoso 2-0 in a pre-season friendly played on Wednesday. The match was organised to allow supporters to assess the team following its three-week pre-season tour.
The coach said the league was already upon the team and there was no reason for the players to be unprepared. He explained that the friendly against Crown FC was part of the final preparations aimed at putting the squad in the right condition before the competitive season begins.
Kwara United had earlier participated in a pre-season tournament in Kano, where they finished as runners-up after losing to Ranchers Bees in the final through a penalty shootout.
Ashifat said the team's preparations had progressed well, although the technical crew still had some areas to address before the opening league fixture.
He expressed confidence that the players would be ready to compete and urged them to approach the new season with determination and discipline.
Kwara United will begin their NPFL campaign at home against Kano Pillars at the Kwara State Stadium in Ilorin. The fixture will provide the Harmony Boys with an opportunity to begin the season in front of their supporters.
Ashifat appealed to fans to come out in large numbers and provide the team with the support needed to secure maximum points.
The coach described supporters as the club's “12th man” and called on them to stand behind the players throughout the campaign.
With the new NPFL season set to begin, Kwara United will now look to turn their positive pre-season preparations into competitive results as they seek a successful campaign.
