KWARA POLICE RESCUE KIDNAPPED MONARCH, TWO OTHER VICTIMS AFTER FIVE DAYS

The Kwara State Police Command has rescued the Onigbesi of Igbesi, Oba Moses Oyinloye Omotayo, and two other victims who were abducted by suspected kidnappers in the state.

The victims were rescued during a joint security operation around the Elerin/Ijomu-Oro axis of Kwara State, five days after they were reportedly kidnapped in Igbesi community.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed the development in a statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi.

According to the police, the operation involved security personnel working together to locate and rescue the victims from their abductors.

The monarch had been abducted on August 22 when suspected armed men invaded Igbesi community in Isin Local Government Area of the state. The incident had generated concern among residents and prompted calls for urgent security intervention.

The latest operation has now brought relief to the monarch’s community and the families of the other victims, who had spent several days uncertain about their whereabouts.

Reports indicated that the security operation was conducted around the Elerin/Ijomu-Oro axis, an area where security agencies have intensified efforts to track suspected kidnappers operating within the region.

The police command is expected to provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the rescue and the identities of the other two victims as investigations continue.

The successful operation comes amid renewed security concerns in parts of Kwara State, particularly communities in the southern axis that have recently experienced incidents of kidnapping and attacks.

The police have continued to urge residents to remain vigilant and provide useful information that could assist security agencies in identifying criminal elements and preventing further attacks.
