KWARA GOVERNOR CONFIRMS SAFE RELEASE OF 38 ABDUCTED CHURCH WORSHIPPERS
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has announced the safe release of 38 worshippers who were kidnapped during last week’s attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area.
The victims regained their freedom on Sunday after several days of intense and coordinated rescue efforts by security agencies and federal authorities.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor said the successful operation followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive for heightened security measures in affected regions, including the deployment of additional tactical units to Kwara.
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Intelligence Agency for their roles in securing the victims’ release.
He also commended community leaders and residents of Eruku for staying calm and supporting security operatives throughout the ordeal.
While the rescued worshippers have been reunited with authorities, security agencies have not yet provided further details on the operation or whether any suspects were arrested.
The development has brought relief to families and renewed calls for strengthened security across worship centers and rural communities in the state.
