KWARA CP ORDERS STRICT TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT
The Kwara State Police Command has commenced a fresh statewide operation to enforce traffic laws and curb violations by motorists across the state.
The operation, tagged Operation Velvet, was launched under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, in line with a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
The command said the exercise is a continuous enforcement initiative aimed at ensuring compliance with traffic regulations, promoting responsible driving, and improving road safety.
Police authorities said the operation is also intended to protect the lives and property of road users while restoring greater order on roads across Kwara State.
The command urged motorists to obey traffic laws and cooperate with officers deployed to enforce the regulations.
It said the enforcement would focus on violations that undermine road safety and contribute to accidents and traffic disorder.
Road safety stakeholders said consistent enforcement of traffic regulations is important in reducing avoidable crashes and encouraging responsible behaviour among motorists.
They also called for continued public awareness campaigns to complement enforcement efforts and help motorists understand their responsibilities on the road.
The police command said the operation would continue across the state and warned motorists against violating traffic regulations.
The initiative forms part of wider efforts by the police to improve road safety and strengthen compliance with traffic laws in Kwara State.
