KWANKWASIYYA DEMANDS PROBE INTO PFIPC BUDGET ALLOCATION

The Kwankwasiyya movement has called for a thorough investigation into the budget allocation and utilisation of the Petroleum Products Freight and Inland Pipeline Company (PFIPC), alleging irregularities and possible mismanagement of funds.

In a statement issued on Friday by the movement’s spokesperson, the group expressed concern over the huge budgetary provisions for the company despite limited visible impact on fuel distribution and infrastructure development. The Kwankwasiyya, a political movement loyal to former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, described the situation as unacceptable and demanded transparency from relevant authorities.

“We cannot continue to allocate billions to PFIPC without seeing corresponding results. The Nigerian people deserve to know how these funds are being spent. We demand an independent probe to uncover any wrongdoing,” the statement read.

The movement urged the National Assembly and anti-graft agencies to take up the matter and ensure that public funds are utilised for the intended purpose of improving petroleum product distribution across the country.

The PFIPC has been at the centre of controversy in recent months, with critics accusing it of inefficiency and lack of transparency. The company was established to manage the transportation and distribution of petroleum products through pipelines and other logistics channels.

A senior official of the PFIPC dismissed the Kwankwasiyya’s demand as politically motivated, insisting that the company operates within approved budgetary guidelines and has made significant progress in its mandate.

Political analysts believe the call for a probe could intensify scrutiny on government agencies handling critical sectors and may influence public perception ahead of future elections.
