Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has reportedly received a disturbing death threat just days after resuming her duties in the Senate following a six-month suspension.

The threat, laced with explicit and abusive language, was sent via iMessenger by an individual identified as Tobechi Okwuonu, using the email address mailtobex2000@yahoo.com.

In the chilling message titled “There Is No Nigerian Senate,” the sender referred to the lawmaker as a “corpse,” claiming her death was imminent:

“Your death sentence is in full swing. The execution is a foregone conclusion. You are a corpse. You are not back to the Nigerian Senate because there is no Senate to return to. You are back to your coffin, but not as a zombie this time, you're back there as a corpse.”

The message further read:

“Rot in hell, wicked bitch. You won’t reincarnate. I won’t let you.”

This threat comes just days after Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s dramatic return to plenary on Tuesday, October 7, following her suspension in March 2025.

She had been suspended for alleged misconduct after protesting the Senate leadership’s decision to reassign her seat and for accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment — a claim that sparked nationwide debate on gender and power dynamics in Nigerian politics.

During her suspension, her office was sealed, security details withdrawn, and she was barred from all Senate activities.

Upon her return, the outspoken lawmaker arrived at the National Assembly complex accompanied by prominent civil rights activists, including Aisha Yesufu. She declared that she owed no apology for her actions, describing Akpabio as a “dictator.”

However, this latest development adds to the senator’s ongoing security challenges.

Earlier this year, in April, heavily armed gunmen attacked her family home in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State. A second attack followed in June, during which security operatives reportedly engaged the assailants in a fierce gun duel. One suspect, Suberu Jose, was arrested and handed over to the police, but there has been no public update on the investigation since.

Her husband, Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, had previously raised alarms over multiple threats to her life, calling on security agencies to intervene.

As of press time, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has not publicly responded to the latest threat, but close associates say she remains unshaken and determined to continue her legislative duties.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
