The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has unveiled a new terminal facility at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport while announcing plans for a N46 billion runway upgrade project.

The minister said the investment is part of ongoing efforts to modernise Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure, improve passenger experience, and strengthen the country’s position as a regional aviation hub.

According to Keyamo, the runway upgrade will enhance airport safety, improve operational efficiency, and support increased air traffic as Nigeria’s aviation sector continues to expand.

The newly unveiled terminal is expected to provide improved facilities for travellers, airlines, and airport operators while boosting economic activities in Kano and surrounding areas.

Aviation stakeholders welcomed the development, noting that infrastructure upgrades are essential for improving connectivity, attracting investment, and supporting tourism and trade.

Experts said sustained investment in airport facilities, alongside improved maintenance and efficient management, will be key to achieving Nigeria’s aviation growth ambitions.

The Federal Government has continued to prioritise aviation reforms, with projects targeting airport upgrades, better safety standards, and stronger connectivity across the country.
