Kenyan authorities have arrested three Nigerian nationals in Mwaliko Estate, Mwea Town, for their alleged involvement in a cyber fraud syndicate.

The suspects, identified as Peter Chukwujekwu, Alazor Chukulute Sunday, and Nnalue Chiagozie Samwe, were apprehended on Wednesday during a multi-agency operation led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The raid followed complaints from local residents about unusual late-night activities in the apartment complex.

In a statement, the DCI confirmed that the operation is part of a broader crackdown on cybercrime networks operating within Kirinyaga County.

“A well-coordinated multi-agency raid in Mwaliko Estate within Mwea Town has blown the lid off a suspected cyber fraud ring operated by three Nigerian nationals,” the agency said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, who claimed to be engaged in online business activities, were living in Kenya without valid documentation or work permits. Authorities are now probing the extent of their alleged operations and investigating potential links to other suspects both within Kenya and internationally.

The arrests highlight Kenya’s ongoing efforts to tackle cybercrime and ensure the safety of its residents against online fraud schemes.
