Kenyan authorities have detained three Nigerian nationals in Mwaliko Estate, Mwea Town, over their alleged involvement in a cyber fraud syndicate.

The suspects, identified as Peter Chukwujekwu, Alazor Chukulute Sunday, and Nnalue Chiagozie Samwe, were apprehended on Wednesday during a multi-agency operation led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The raid followed complaints from residents about unusual late-night activities at their apartment.

In a statement, the DCI confirmed that the arrests were part of an ongoing effort to dismantle cybercrime networks operating within Kirinyaga County.

“A well-coordinated multi-agency raid in Mwaliko Estate, Mwea Town, has uncovered a suspected cyber fraud ring operated by three Nigerian nationals,” the agency said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, who claimed to run an online business, were living in Kenya without valid documentation and lacked the work permits required by law.

Authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of their alleged cybercrime activities and any potential connections to other suspects both within and outside the country.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
