KEBBI PLANS MILITARY BASE IN BANDIT-HIT COMMUNITIES
State government collaborates with security architecture to establish permanent forward operating bases and safeguard vulnerable border corridors
The Kebbi State Government has announced strategic plans to establish dedicated military bases in communities heavily impacted by banditry and criminal incursions.
Governor Nasir Idris made this known following a high-level security council meeting held in Birnin Kebbi, aimed at reinforcing the state's defensive perimeter against roving criminal elements.
According to the state administration, the planned forward operating bases will be sited in strategic border communities and hinterlands that have experienced repeated security challenges.
The initiative is designed to shorten military response times, provide immediate cover to rural settlements, and cut off logistics routes used by bandits operating across contiguous regional corridors.
The state government reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting the Nigerian Armed Forces with logistical backing, surveillance equipment, and necessary infrastructure to ensure smooth operations.
Local community leaders and security stakeholders have commended the proactive measure, expressing optimism that the permanent military presence will restore lasting peace and allow farmers to return safely to their agricultural lands.
