KEBBI EMIR ENDORSES IDRIS FOR SECOND TERM
The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera, has endorsed Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, for a second term in office.
The monarch said the governor deserved another term based on what he described as significant developments recorded across the state under the current administration.
Mera made the endorsement when the Kebbi State Governor’s Media Team, led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed, visited his palace in Argungu.
Although he noted that traditional rulers were expected to remain apolitical, the Emir said it was important to recognise leaders who had delivered tangible results for their people.
He described Idris’s administration as people-oriented and development-driven, citing improvements in infrastructure, peace and socio-economic activities across the state.
The monarch urged residents to support efforts aimed at sustaining the progress recorded in Kebbi and prayed for continued guidance and protection for the governor.
The endorsement comes ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with political activities already intensifying across the state.
Idris, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress, has been seeking support from political and traditional stakeholders as he prepares for the 2027 contest.
