KATSINA FUND TARGETS OVER 40,000 WOMEN
More than 40,000 women in Katsina State are set to benefit from the Community Investment Fund under the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up Project.
Vice President Kashim Shettima unveiled the initiative during a ceremony in Katsina, where the state government formally commenced the disbursement of funds to eligible Women Affinity Groups.
The programme is designed to provide business capital, strengthen women’s economic capacity, improve household incomes and expand financial inclusion at the grassroots.
Shettima said the beneficiaries had met the required conditions and demonstrated commitment through savings and group activities before becoming eligible for the fund.
He described the programme as an investment in the productive capacity of women rather than simply a cash distribution.
Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda also committed more than N4bn to support the initiative and expand economic opportunities for women in the state.
The programme is expected to enable beneficiaries to strengthen existing businesses or establish new income-generating activities.
The initiative forms part of wider efforts under the Nigeria for Women Programme to improve women’s access to finance and support their participation in economic activities.
