The Katsina State House of Assembly has called on the state government to ban school graduation ceremonies, citing concerns over insecurity and the rise of social vices.

The resolution was reached on Tuesday during plenary, presided over by Deputy Speaker Alhaji Abduljal Runka.

Leading the motion, Tasi’u Musa-Maigari, representing Zango Constituency, argued that graduation celebrations often breed disorder and should be prohibited to safeguard students and communities.

Supporting the motion, Aliyu Abubakar-Albaba, representing Katsina Constituency, drew attention to the growing menace of phone snatching and urged the government to step up measures to curb the trend.

Following deliberations, the House unanimously adopted the motions and directed the Clerk to transmit the resolutions to the Executive Arm for necessary action.

In the same session, lawmakers also demanded the dismissal of Dr. Ibrahim Ishaq, Permanent Member ‘I’ of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). The call followed allegations that Ishaq made public remarks deemed offensive to the legislature.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
