Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has signed the state’s N828.58bn 2027 Appropriation Law into effect following its passage by the State House of Assembly.

The budget provides N190.73bn for recurrent expenditure and N637.85bn for capital projects, representing about 23 per cent and 77 per cent of the total allocation respectively.

The approved figure is slightly below the N828.64bn proposal earlier presented by the governor to the Assembly.

Assembly Speaker Nasir Daura said the legislature had completed the required processes before passing the budget. He commended the governor’s administration for its cooperation during the exercise.

Radda said the budget preparation involved consultations with residents across the state’s 361 wards and 34 local government areas. He described it as a people-focused budget designed around priorities identified during the consultations.

The governor said ministries, departments and agencies subsequently defended their proposals before the Assembly scrutinised and passed the appropriation.

The budget places significant emphasis on sectors including education, works and housing, agriculture, health and rural development.

Radda urged government agencies to implement the approved projects and programmes promptly so that the allocations would translate into tangible benefits for residents.

He also called for a peaceful electoral process ahead of the 2027 elections and wished candidates success.
