KASOA MAN ATTACKS FIANCéE WITH HAMMER OVER ALLEGED CHEATING
A 39-year-old gold dealer, Osman Mumuni, has been arrested after allegedly attacking his fiancée, Barikisu Abdullah, with a hammer in Kasoa, Ghana, over suspicions of infidelity.
According to Barikisu, the attack happened a week after the Eid al-Fitr celebration. She recalled that while she was asleep one night, Osman sneaked into her room and struck her with a hammer, leaving her unconscious. She later regained consciousness in a hospital, where doctors confirmed she had sustained a fractured skull and broken teeth.
When she returned home after treatment, she reportedly found Osman’s slippers, bloodstains, and the hammer he allegedly used. Days later, Osman admitted the assault during a phone call to her parents, apologizing for his actions.
Speaking to Crime Check TV Ghana, Osman denied using a hammer, claiming instead that he only slapped and beat Barikisu during a heated confrontation. He accused her of being unfaithful, despite his financial support — including renting her an apartment worth Gh¢6,000, giving her Gh¢500 weekly, nearly Gh¢100 daily, a new phone, and business capital.
Osman alleged that Barikisu constantly received late-night calls, disrespected him during visits, and refused intimacy, which fueled his suspicion. However, Barikisu denied the cheating claims, explaining that the late calls were from her customers as she runs a business. She also clarified that she refused intimacy because they were not yet married.
Barikisu further accused Osman of repeatedly postponing formal meetings with her family, mocking them in the process.
Although Osman has expressed remorse and promised to cover her medical bills, Barikisu has reported the matter to the Kasoa Police Command for further investigation.
The case has sparked outrage among residents, who have condemned the assault and called for justice.
