The Kano State Government has hosted a six-day specialist medical outreach during which 52 patients received free urological surgeries at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

The programme was conducted by specialist doctors from Saudi Arabia under the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, targeting residents who could not afford specialised surgical treatment.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf commended the Saudi government and the visiting medical team for supporting healthcare delivery in the state.

The governor said the latest intervention was the fourth Saudi medical outreach conducted in Kano. He also recalled that more than 2,300 free eye surgeries were performed in the state during a similar intervention in 2023.

Yusuf said the state would continue to strengthen its healthcare partnership with Saudi Arabia and disclosed that arrangements were underway for open-heart surgeries to commence in Kano.

He also commended the management and staff of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for supporting the programme and said the government would continue investing in healthcare infrastructure and medical personnel.

The team leader, urologist Dr Ali Ibn Mahfouz, said the visiting specialists successfully completed the procedures without complications.
