The Kano State Police Command has arrested two notorious thugs, Mohammed Isma’il, popularly known as Linga, and his accomplice, Sani Abdulsalam, also called Guchi, after they were caught brandishing dangerous weapons in viral videos on social media.

Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, stating that the suspects were tracked down in Dala Quarters through an intelligence-led operation.

“During the arrest, a sword and two clubs were recovered from the suspects. These individuals have been inciting violence by mobilizing youths and posting videos of themselves wielding weapons on TikTok and Facebook,” Kiyawa said.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who ordered the operation, issued a stern warning that the command would not tolerate anyone using social media to promote violence.

“Anyone found posting videos with weapons or engaging in acts of thuggery will be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” Bakori cautioned.

The police further urged parents and guardians to monitor their children and discourage them from engaging in criminal activities. They also appreciated members of the public who provided credible information that led to the suspects’ arrest.

Residents are encouraged to continue reporting suspicious activities through the command’s emergency hotlines to ensure peace and safety in Kano.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
