KANO GOV URGES RESIDENTS TO PROTECT PEACE AHEAD OF 2027 ELECTION
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged residents to avoid violence, division and other actions that could threaten peace and stability as the 2027 general elections approach.
Yusuf made the call on Thursday during his address at the 66th Independence Anniversary celebration held at the Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium in Kano.
The governor appealed to residents to embrace peace, unity and mutual respect, while urging Nigerians to pray for a peaceful, free, fair and credible election.
He also commended security agencies for their efforts in protecting lives and property, calling on citizens to reject violence, intolerance and criminality and embrace lawful activities and responsible citizenship.
Yusuf said his administration remained committed to improving education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, water supply, security and human capital development across the state.
He added that the government was strengthening collaboration with security agencies and providing additional logistics to the military, police, civil defence and DSS, particularly in vulnerable communities.
The governor also highlighted efforts to tackle drug abuse, illicit trafficking and thuggery through the Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
He said the government had continued to support vulnerable residents through start-up capital, livestock, skills and other forms of assistance aimed at improving livelihoods.
