KANO COURT REMANDS POPULAR TIKTOKER MAI WUSHIRYA OVER ‘INDECENT’ VIDEO WITH DWARF WOMAN
A Magistrate Court in Kano State has ordered the remand of popular TikToker, Ashiru Idris, widely known as Mai Wushirya, over the posting of alleged “indecent videos” featuring a dwarf woman.
The presiding judge, Halima Wali, on Monday, directed that the social media influencer be held at a correctional centre for two weeks pending further hearing.
The arrest followed the circulation of viral videos showing Mai Wushirya engaging in what authorities described as “immoral and demeaning acts.”
Officials of the Kano State Censorship Board apprehended him last week, citing violations of the state’s laws against the production and distribution of obscene or sexually suggestive content.
Speaking after the court session, the board’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, said:
“The court has also ordered his partner to appear before the hearing continues.”
The case has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many debating the boundaries between entertainment, morality, and free expression under Kano’s censorship laws.
