KANO COURT REMANDS MAN FOR ALLEGEDLY IMPERSONATING POLICE OFFICER, CAUSING PUBLIC DISTURBANCE
Fake Police Officer, Accomplice Remanded in Kano Over Public Disturbance and Criminal Allegations
A Magistrates’ Court in Kano State has remanded two men, Usman Isa and Umar Tijjani, in a correctional facility after they were arraigned for allegedly engaging in criminal activities in the Ja’en area of Gwale Local Government.
The key suspect, Usman Isa, is accused of impersonating a police officer—a serious offense that authorities say he used to deceive and harass members of the public.
His alleged accomplice, Umar Tijjani, faces multiple charges including conspiracy, criminal trespass, theft, and destruction of property.
The two men were brought before Presiding Magistrate Mustapha Abba Dandago, where they pleaded not guilty to all charges leveled against them.
Following the plea, the magistrate ordered that both suspects be remanded in a correctional facility until the next hearing, which is scheduled for August 29, 2025.
The case has drawn public interest, particularly due to the rising concern about individuals posing as law enforcement officers to carry out illegal activities. Local residents in Ja’en have praised the authorities for the arrest, hoping it sends a strong message to others who might consider such actions.
As investigations continue, the court is expected to determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement and whether further charges may be filed.
