KANO AUTHORITIES SEAL OFF POPULAR SHISHA LOUNGE
The Kano State Government has ordered the shutdown of Arfat Lounge, a shisha spot located along Abdullahi Bayero Road in Kano.
The enforcement operation was jointly carried out by officials of the Kano State Tourism Board, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the state police command.
Chairman of the Kano State Tourism Board, Alhaji Tukur Bala Sagagi, explained that the action was in line with existing laws banning shisha smoking in the state. He warned that the government would not hesitate to act against anyone flouting the regulation.
Sagagi also advised owners of recreational centers and lounges where drug-related activities take place to either sanitize their premises or close them down to avoid government sanctions.
The raid formed part of the state’s broader efforts to curb drug abuse, with NDLEA operatives arresting several individuals suspected of involvement in illegal activities during the operation.
