KANO APC CHAIRMAN ABDUCTED, TWO KILLED IN FRESH ATTACK

Gunmen have abducted the All Progressives Congress Chairman of Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State, Abdullahi Fanka, killing two people during a fresh overnight attack on the community.

The attackers reportedly invaded the area around 11pm on Monday and opened sporadic fire, causing residents to flee. A resident said the two victims were killed while attempting to prevent the gunmen from abducting Fanka.

The incident occurred barely 24 hours after gunmen killed the APC Chairman of Rantan Ward in Bebeji Local Government Area, Garba Buba, and another resident, Sulaiman Zunduma.

The attacks followed an earlier assault on Chiromawa community in Garun Mallam Local Government Area, where suspected bandits abducted the Sarkin Noman Kano, Alhaji Yusif Nadabo. He was later rescued by the police, while three residents sustained injuries.

The incidents, which occurred within about 72 hours in neighbouring parts of Kano, have heightened concerns over the growing wave of kidnapping and armed attacks in the state.

The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation into the attacks and efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, said the Federal Government was developing a five-year defence and security plan following the recent attacks in Kano.
