KANO: ABBA YUSUF’S AIDE, KWANKWASO RESIGNS AS GOVERNOR DUMPS NNPP
Sunusi Kwankwaso, Special Adviser to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has resigned from his position following the governor’s departure from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The announcement was made public on Friday through a video shared on Facebook by Sunusi’s media assistant, Saifullahi Alhassan. In the video, Sunusi explained that his decision was prompted by reports that Governor Yusuf had left the NNPP and was expected to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sunusi noted that he had previously submitted a resignation letter, but attempts to formally deliver it through official channels were unsuccessful.
“After learning that the governor had left the NNPP and was expected to move to the APC, I tendered my resignation, but it was not received,” he said. He added that the letter, which was also sent to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, was similarly rejected.
“This video is to officially notify the public that I have resigned from my role as a political adviser. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and for the work we accomplished together over the past two years,” Sunusi stated.
He also emphasized that, despite the political shifts, he has no plans to join the APC, reaffirming his loyalty to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and the Kwankwasiyya political movement.
“I will not abandon Kwankwaso or the Kwankwasiyya movement. My loyalty remains with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and I have no intention of joining the APC,” he affirmed.
Sunusi’s resignation comes amid growing political uncertainty in Kano State following Governor Yusuf’s exit from the NNPP, a development that has reportedly triggered resignations and realignments among government officials and party members.
