Security operatives have successfully uncovered an illegal firearms factory hidden in Giroji Village, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The operation led to the arrest of four individuals allegedly involved in the local production and supply of weapons.

According to a report posted by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Saturday via X (formerly Twitter), the illegal factory was discovered after credible intelligence flagged suspicious activity at a residential building in the area. Acting swiftly, security agents launched a surveillance operation that led them to the makeshift weapons workshop.

Two of the suspects, Shuaibu Abubakar (35) and Ismail Shuaibu (18) — both from Kiru LGA in Kano State — were reportedly caught in the act of manufacturing firearms and ammunition.

A search of the premises revealed a disturbing array of items, including:

Three locally made firearms

Three incomplete gun frames

14 cartridges and five live T.06 rounds

Welding and filing equipment

Bench vice machine

Binding wires, iron rods, and pipes

Further investigations led to the arrest of two more suspects: Hassan Ibrahim from Giroji Village and Murtala Yakubufrom Kari in Makarfi.

Interestingly, both are said to be members of a local vigilante group, raising questions about potential misuse of their positions.

Authorities report that the suspects have begun providing useful information during interrogation. The case has now been handed over to relevant agencies for deeper investigation and prosecution.

This discovery shines a spotlight on the growing concern over illegal arms manufacturing in rural areas, and the risks such weapons pose to community safety and national security.

Security forces have assured the public of continued efforts to track down illegal arms operations and dismantle networks fueling local violence.
