Police in Kaduna State have arrested three teenagers who allegedly kidnapped three young siblings and demanded a ₦50 million ransom from their father.

The incident happened on August 25, 2025, when the children — Aslam Umar Lukman (14), Suleiman Umar Tanko (12), and Aliyu Umar Tanko (10) — were abducted from their home on Calabar Road in Sabon Layi, Kaduna North.

According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the distressed father quickly reported the abduction, prompting swift police action.

Investigations led to the arrest of the suspected ringleader, Richard Philip, who later confessed and revealed that he had conspired with Ibrahim Ma’aruf (18) and Abubakar Sadiq (15) to carry out the kidnapping. The children were kept hidden at Philip’s residence.

Acting on this intelligence, operatives stormed the location, rescued the three minors unharmed, and apprehended all suspects.

The children have since been safely reunited with their family, with the Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas, personally handing them over.

The Kaduna Police Command reassured the public of its commitment to tackling crime and protecting residents, warning that those who engage in such criminal activities — regardless of age — will face the full weight of the law.
