KADUNA MAPS FLOOD-PRONE COMMUNITIES, PREPARES TEMPORARY SHELTERS
The Kaduna State Government has begun mapping communities considered vulnerable to flooding and identifying temporary shelters as part of measures to reduce the impact of possible flooding.
The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency is leading the exercise to identify areas at risk and prepare locations where residents could be moved if flooding threatens their homes.
The agency said the exercise was aimed at improving preparedness and reducing the risk of loss of lives and property during the rainy season.
Officials are also expected to work with communities and relevant agencies to strengthen early response measures and ensure that residents receive timely information where evacuation becomes necessary.
The mapping exercise will help authorities identify vulnerable locations and plan emergency responses based on the specific needs of affected communities.
The state’s preparedness efforts come amid continued concerns over flooding in different parts of Nigeria, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert and cooperate with emergency officials as preparations continue.
