Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has urged residents of the state to embrace unity and peaceful coexistence as he attended the 2025 Unity Christmas Carol organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria in collaboration with the state government.

The event took place on Sunday at the Umaru Yar’Adua Conference Centre in Kaduna and brought together Christian leaders from different denominations, government officials, and worshippers from across the state. The programme featured prayers for peace and development, alongside Christmas renditions by various church choirs.

Governor Sani said his presence at the carol was a fulfillment of a promise he made in 2024 to continue participating in the annual event throughout his tenure. He described the gathering as a powerful reminder of the role faith plays in promoting unity, healing, and collective progress in society.

According to the governor, Christmas goes beyond the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, as it reflects values such as love, sacrifice, humility, compassion, and selfless service. He noted that these virtues cut across religious boundaries and speak to shared human values that can strengthen peaceful coexistence.

Sani commended Christian leaders and worshippers in Kaduna State for their commitment to peace, especially during moments of tension. He praised their choice of dialogue over division and restraint over provocation, saying such attitudes have helped to sustain stability in the state.

Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance, the governor said he remains determined to serve all residents of Kaduna State without discrimination based on religion, ethnicity or political affiliation. He added that events like the Unity Christmas Carol symbolise openness and shared values, urging the state to continue setting an example of peaceful coexistence.

Highlighting achievements of his administration, Sani disclosed that 85 roads covering 785 kilometres have been completed or are nearing completion, while over 50 additional roads and bridges have been launched. He also said 255 Primary Health Care Centres have been upgraded, a 300-bed specialist hospital commissioned, and agriculture allocated over 10 per cent of the state’s annual budget.

He concluded by calling on residents to sustain the spirit of peace and unity beyond the festive season, stressing that lasting development can only thrive in an atmosphere of mutual respect and harmony.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
