A Peoples Redemption Party chieftain and Kaduna North senatorial candidate, Dr Abdullahi Ahmad Wakili, has urged Northwest governors to directly raise the region’s security challenges with President Bola Tinubu during his planned visit to Kaduna.

Wakili said Saturday’s campaign visit should produce concrete commitments to protect residents, rather than end with speeches and political celebrations.

“The Northwest is bleeding, our communities are living in fear, and too many families continue to suffer the consequences of insecurity,” he said.

He called on the governors of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara to set aside party differences and present a united demand for action against kidnapping, banditry and violent attacks.

According to Wakili, their access to the President should be used to secure practical protection for citizens.

He urged them to explain the experiences of affected communities and insist on a coordinated response with measurable results.

His proposed measures include improved intelligence gathering, better equipment for security personnel, stronger protection for vulnerable communities, the rescue of abducted people and prosecution of perpetrators.

Wakili stressed that the Federal Government, state authorities and security agencies must work together to deliver visible improvements.

He said his appeal was a demand for responsible leadership, adding that citizens’ security and welfare should take priority over party loyalty and campaign interests.

The PRP candidate also highlighted the need for farmers to return safely to their fields, traders to conduct business without fear and children to attend school without the threat of abduction.

He warned that governors would owe residents an explanation if they failed to use the visit to press for action.

“The governors must speak. The President must listen. And the people must see decisive action,” he said.
