Two years after the tragic death of Nollywood actor Junior Pope, his wife, Jennifer Odonwodo, has shared an emotional tribute recounting the moment she received the news of his passing.

In a post on Instagram, Jennifer described the incident as “the most devastating call” of her life, revealing that she was preparing for a photoshoot when she was informed that the boat her husband was on had capsized.

“My hands immediately started shaking, but a part of me held onto the fact that it was a prank,” she wrote.

She recalled arriving at the scene and seeing her husband’s lifeless body, a moment she said left her in shock and disbelief.

Jennifer also revealed the severe emotional toll the tragedy took on her health, stating that her blood pressure spiked dangerously high, leading to her immediate hospitalisation.

“I was in denial… I still had hope,” she added, explaining that reality only set in when she saw his casket the following day.

The late actor, whose real name was JohnPaul Odonwodo, died on April 10, 2024, alongside colleagues when their boat capsized while returning from a film location.

In her tribute, Jennifer expressed gratitude for the strength to carry on, noting that despite the pain, she and their children have been sustained by faith.

“God is taking care of your children and I… It hasn’t been easy, but God has been faithful,” she wrote, praying for her husband’s peaceful rest.

The post drew an outpouring of condolences from fans and colleagues, many of whom continue to remember the actor for his vibrant personality and contributions to Nollywood.
