JUNE 12: DEMOCRACY RESTORED ABIA’S PRIDE, SAYS GOVERNOR OTTI

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has said that the return of democratic governance has helped restore the pride and confidence of the people of Abia, highlighting the progress made in the state through accountable leadership and citizen-focused policies.

In a message marking Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration on June 12, Otti reflected on the significance of democratic rule, describing it as a system that gives citizens the power to shape their future and hold leaders accountable.

The governor noted that Abia has witnessed notable improvements in governance, infrastructure, and public service delivery under democratic institutions, adding that the state is gradually reclaiming its place as a hub of innovation, enterprise, and development.

According to him, the confidence of residents in government has grown as a result of efforts to promote transparency, fiscal responsibility, and inclusive governance.

Otti also paid tribute to individuals who fought for the nation's democratic journey, saying their sacrifices laid the foundation for the freedoms and opportunities Nigerians enjoy today.

He urged citizens to continue supporting democratic values by participating in governance, respecting the rule of law, and contributing to the development of their communities.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering people-centered policies and sustaining reforms aimed at improving the quality of life for residents of Abia State.

As Nigeria marks another Democracy Day, Otti expressed optimism that continued commitment to democratic principles will drive greater progress and prosperity for both Abia State and the nation as a whole.
