JONNY EVANS NAMES TWO MANCHESTER UNITED LEGENDS ‘A LEVEL ABOVE THE REST’
Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has revealed the two teammates he believes stood out as being a level above everyone else during his time at Old Trafford.
Evans, who had two spells with Manchester United — first between 2006 and 2015, and again from 2023 onwards — made 198 appearances for the club in total, winning three Premier League titles, a Champions League, and two League Cups in his first stint.
The Northern Irishman, who also helped United lift the FA Cup in 2024, spoke to Sky Sports about his time at the club and the players who impressed him most.
“I always thought Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs were on another level to the rest of the team,” Evans said.
“Even though we had world-class players, I felt like their IQ was just a little bit higher than everyone else’s.”
Both Scholes and Giggs are regarded as Manchester United legends, having spent their entire playing careers at the club and winning numerous major trophies under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Evans’ remarks echo the sentiments of many football fans who consider Scholes and Giggs not only technically gifted, but also football-smart, capable of reading the game better than most of their peers.
