Canadian striker Jonathan David has officially signed with Italian giants Juventus, completing a move that will keep him in Turin until June 2030. The 24-year-old joins from French side Lille after an impressive five-year stint in Ligue 1.

Juventus confirmed the signing on Friday through their official channels, describing David as “a talented striker who adds quality to our squad.” They added, “We warmly welcome him and wish him all the best. See you on the pitch, Jonathan.”

🇨🇦 From Ottawa to Europe’s Top Stages

Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Haitian parents and raised in Ottawa, Canada, David began his football journey with local clubs Ottawa Gloucester and Ottawa Internationals. At just 17, he took a bold step to Europe by signing for Belgian club KAA Gent.

His impact was immediate. David scored on his debut in August 2018 and went on to tally 37 goals and 15 assists in 83 appearances for Gent, finishing as the Belgian league’s top scorer in the 2019-2020 season.

Lille’s Talisman

In the summer of 2020, Lille snapped him up, and David soon became their attacking lynchpin. Over five seasons, he netted an impressive 109 goals and provided 30 assists in 232 matches across all competitions.

He helped Lille clinch a stunning Ligue 1 title in 2020-2021 and followed it up by lifting the French Super Cup the next year. Last season, David particularly shone in Europe, grabbing the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid and scoring twice against Atletico Madrid.

His consistent goal-scoring saw him finish as Ligue 1’s fourth-highest scorer last season, after placing second and third in the two previous campaigns.

🍁 Canada’s Star Man

On the international stage, David made headlines right from his senior debut for Canada in 2018, when he scored twice. Since then, he’s racked up 35 goals in 66 appearances, solidifying his spot as one of Canada’s all-time greats.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
