JOHNNY AIKPITANYI EMERGES PDP CANDIDATE FOR OVIA HOUSE OF REPS BYE-ELECTION
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has officially selected Johnny Ikponmwosa Aikpitanyi as its candidate for the upcoming House of Representatives bye-election in Ovia Federal Constituency.
Aikpitanyi emerged unopposed during the party’s primary election held on Monday, July 21, 2025, in Iguobazuwa—the headquarters of Ovia South-West Local Government Area. He was the sole aspirant for the position, making his emergence a smooth process for the party.
The bye-election, scheduled for August 16, 2025, became necessary following the resignation of the previous representative for the constituency. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has since fixed the date for voters in Ovia to elect a new lawmaker.
With Aikpitanyi now officially representing the PDP, all eyes are on the other major political parties as they prepare to announce their own candidates for what promises to be a competitive race.
More updates on the upcoming poll will follow as the campaign season begins to unfold.
