Prince Joe Okojie has officially emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming Edo Central Senatorial by-election scheduled for August 16, 2025.

Okojie secured the party’s ticket during the PDP primary election held on Monday, July 21, 2025, in Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The by-election was triggered following the declaration of a vacant seat in the National Assembly, and Okojie will now fly the PDP flag as the party’s chosen representative in the race to fill the position.

Party members and supporters in Edo Central have welcomed his victory, with many describing him as a grassroots politician with a track record of service to the people.

As the campaign season heats up, Okojie is expected to face strong competition from candidates of other major political parties ahead of the crucial August poll.
