JMG DONATES SOLAR POWER TO BOOST HEALTHCARE SERVICES IN LAGOS
JMG Limited, a leading provider of electro-mechanical solutions in Nigeria, has donated a 10-kilowatt solar power system to the Ketu Primary Healthcare Centre in the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.
Unveiled on Wednesday, the system is designed to provide the health centre with 24-hour electricity, the Group General Manager of JMG Limited, Rabi Jammal, said.
Jammal noted that the donation is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, focusing on improving healthcare access and promoting a greener environment.
“Healthcare reflects our belief that reliable power is a right, not a privilege, and it is essential to life and healthcare. This project demonstrates our commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future. It renews our mission to light up lives and power communities,” he said.
The Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Adetola Abubakar, stated that the solar system will strengthen the hospital’s ability to deliver quality healthcare to residents.
Abubakar added, “This donation ensures there will be no power outages during childbirth, particularly for C-sections, and prevents malfunctioning of medical equipment. The solar system will enable smooth and efficient operation of medical devices, allowing residents to continue receiving world-class healthcare services.”
The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, commended the initiative, highlighting it as part of the state’s vision for a cleaner and more sustainable environment. Represented by Dr. Sanuth Hassan, Wahab encouraged private organizations to collaborate with the government to deliver essential services to citizens.
Francis Meshioye, Executive Director of JMG and President of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, emphasised that a healthier society is key to productivity, which motivated the donation.
Dr. Dayo Olajide, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District II, described the donation as a “game changer” for both patients and healthcare workers.
